Tata
Steel (Thailand) and all its subsidiaries aim to run the
business with social responsibility and contribution to community,
society and nation in every aspect from strictly comply with the laws
and regulations, treating every stakeholders equally, seriously and
continuously preserving the environment, improving the quality of life
of people living in the surrounding communities and in the rural areas
around the country, including supporting other activities and projects
that would benefit communities and societies.
The company aims to be a part that
brings Thai society to a sustainable development society by running the
social responsibility in 4 different ways as follow:
1. Supporting the
surrounding community
The company aims to improve the living standard of the people in the surrounding communities to encourage the positive attitude and acceptance as the part of the community by organizing the social responsibility activities in terms of developing communities, supporting the local culture, providing medical care and safety, supporting vocational training, encouraging the local environmental preservation, children development in communities as well as supporting and promoting the good relationship between the community and the local government units.

the ‘Mobile Clinic’ for general and dental health check-up
- Provide the training on how to drive the motorcycles safely
- Organize fighting H1N1 flu parade at the ground in front of the Hemraj Industrial Estate to campaign for preventing the spread of the virus

promote the vocation
- Provide
the vocational training for the housewives in the area
- Develop the OTOP Project for the specific area
1.5 Activities to
encourage the local environmental preservation
- Reform
and rehabilitate the local forest to enlarge the greenery and natural
learning space
- Plant the trees with the local people according to the activities “Love Mom, Love Environment”
- Plant the trees, clean and reform the vision in the monasteries area according to the projects “Love, Bind, Unity, All for Our King”
- Plant the trees in the plants and the surrounding areas
- Organize
the environmental camp for the schools in the communities to encourage
the students to be conscious about the environment
1.6 Activities to
support the children in the community
- Build
the water closets for the schools in the area
- Recondition the playgrounds for the schools in the area
- Recondition
the canteens for the schools in the area
- Give
out the scholarship, instruction media and sports equipment to the
schools in the area
- Organize
the essay contest on the occasion of the National Mother and Father Day
- Organize the card-making competition on the occasion of the National Mother Day
- Organize the National Children Day events for the schools in the area
- Recondition and improve the schools in the area by providing the cement flooring, fencing, painting, gardening and other necessary factors
- Provide the basic training on Microsoft Office Program for the children in the area
- Setting up Internet System for school aroung community
- Provide the basic training on Microsoft Office Program for the children in the area “Shoes Rack for Kids”
1.7 Activities to
promote and encourage the good relationship between communities and
local government units
- Support the activities held by the local government units
- Host
the sport event with the local government units
- Arrange the Opening House Day for the local government people to visit the plants
- Provide the traffic sign
2.Children development project in
remote areas
The company has initiated the project “Grow Smart with Tata Steel” aimed to encourage the self-learning system for the children in the rural areas so that they could be more acknowledged and use their skills to develop their local communities which will lead to the sustainable social development in the future. The project “Grow Smart with Tata Steel” will present the book shelves, the desks, the boards and books to the schools in the rural area across the country. Then the library management manual will be given out in order to help running the library efficiently. The company has also planned to visit the schools and added up the books every 6 months. The goal of the project “Grow Smart with Tata Steel” is 400 schools with the budget of 30 million baht.
3.Supporting the non-profit
organizations
The company has been supporting the various non-profit organizations from the Royal Initiated Projects, the students’ volunteer camps, the relief for people suffering from natural disasters and the public welfare projects.
3.1 Support the Royal
Initiated Projects
- Support the Chaipattana Foundation by building the Chaipattana Aerator to treat polluted water
- Support
the publication of the comic “Follow in the footsteps of our King with
sufficiency economy” for distribution to the libraries all over the
country
3.2 Support the
student’s volunteer camps
- Sponsor the construction round bars to the volunteer camps of Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University to build the bridge for the communities in the rural area, aimed to develop the living standard. The company has been sponsored this project yearly as followed:
- - “36th Yuwawitsawakornborphit Bridge” Project, Lampoon Province in 2008
- - “37th Yuwawitsawakornborphit Bridge” Project, Loei Province in 2009
- - “38th Yuwawitsawakornborphit Bridge” Project, Suphan Buri Province in 2010
3.3 Relief those
suffering from natural disasters
- Donate the food and drinking water for flood victims at Lopburi province
- Donate the food and drinking water for flood victims at Ayudhaya province
- Donate the blankets to the schools in Mae Hongson province according to the project “Let’s Warm Up”
- Donate 50,00 baht to the Department of Primary Industries and Mines for the flood victims in Northern part of Thailand
3.4 Support the
underpriviledged people and public welfare projects
- Food
and supplies donation to the Rangsit and Pak Kred orphranage
- Co-Host
the grand merit for providing the office supplies for vocational
training building and the shelter for the homeless elderly blind people
for Northern School for the Blind Alumni Association
- Donate
the second-handed books received from staffs, shareholders and
customers to the Mirror Foundation to support the project “Read for the
Nation”
- Second-handed,
books supplies and lunch donation at BaanGerda under The Center of
Children’s Rights Foundation, Lopburi province
- Lunch
and supplies donation, and recreation activities for the elders in Bang
Kae 2 foster home
- Volunteer for reading the audio book to be given to the Thailand Foundation of the Blind
- Organize the project “Tata Steel Second Hand Toy” by opening for the toys donation from staffs, shareholders, suppliers and customers and give out to the Foundation for Children and the schools in the rural areas in Kampang Phet and Pichit province. The students must gain the points by doing good for a month and trade those points for the toys the schools received from the company.
4.Environmental Support
The companies in Tata Steel (Thailand) group pay attention in using the natural resources efficiently, as well as managing the surrounding environment properly in order not to affect the whole community and society. The details are as followed:

Limit the CO2 emission, reduce the energy use, replace the natural gas with fuel oil, treat and reuse the waste water from the production process, use the gas in the production process to produce the electricity to be used in the plants

- Free the fish to the natural water at Taling Chan District
- Fish out the garbage from the public canal
- Donate the round bars steel to be used as the coral and sea animals home at Koh Larn Island, Chonburi Province
